Focus on building your sight word vocabulary!
Class Experience
The difficult thing about sight words is that some of them do not follow your typical phonics rules. Many children struggle because they cannot sound them out and get the word correct. This class is intended to teach learners how to memorize and read sight words through practice and repetition. Every group set will follow a similar outline. Classes 1-99: We will begin with a song. We will review the sight words for the class. Then we will trace and write the sight words. We will use Play...
The overall goal is for students to be able to read 40 sight words of Level 1.
I am certified to teach children for grades K-12. I have been working in education for many years and have seen students gain success with interactive programs. Also, for over a year I have been working as an online ESL teacher, teaching children ages 4 and older how to speak English. It is my knowledge, skill set, and love of learning that would make me a great educator for your child.

Access to a printer and copy paper will be beneficial. Before the start of class, I will provide what will need to be printed out for the upcoming class. This will be beneficial for students to follow along and participate in the activities. If you have access to Playdough, crayons, Markers, etc, that would be great. there is a hands on portion where the kids can use playdough to make their site words. If you have dice, that is great. If not, we have online dice that can be used, but the kiddos love to roll the dice.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
While ages 5-7 are encouraged to join, please note, if your students knows many or all of the dolch sight words, then this course may be too easy for them. Ages 5-6 should be ready to be introduced and ages 6-7 should be those who have been introduced but are struggling and need additional support. All students should know their letters and letter sounds. If they do not, please feel free to check out the beginner phonics classes that I offer.
