Let's head to the construction site as we begin to learn our sight words. In this weekly class we will reinforce phonics sounds, blend letters and learn simple CVC words, all while exploring construction-themed activities and games

Class experience

Every week students will explore a new sight word, identifying letter sounds at the start of words. We will learn CVC words and also word families (such as cat, hat, mat). We will also learn high-frequency words. These are words that appear frequently in text, and help young readers grow in confidence and skill when they can easily identify them. Not all high-frequency words are easily decodable, so it is important that young readers have the opportunity to learn these words independently. We will use our trucks and tools to help us construct these words. Every week throughout this course we will build our reading skills as we identify and build phonics and letter sounds to make words.

I will also support the students as they use their important social and communication skills as they share their thoughts about the vehicles and practice their letter sounds throughout the lesson. Students will be encouraged and supported as they participate in class. If you feel that your child may be shy or anxious about participating in class please feel free to contact me in advance and let me know.
