Learn to Read Sight Words: Construction Themed
Class experience
This weekly class, truck-loving learners will learn to blend letter sounds, explore cvc words and learn about word families. This class will nurture and develop the foundational skills students need to decode simple words and learn early sight words. In this class we will explore ways to read, make and write simple words. This class is for learners who have a good understanding on their letter sounds, and is a great follow up class for students who have completed the Construction Truck...
Every week students will explore a new sight word, identifying letter sounds at the start of words. We will learn CVC words and also word families (such as cat, hat, mat). We will also learn high-frequency words. These are words that appear frequently in text, and help young readers grow in confidence and skill when they can easily identify them. Not all high-frequency words are easily decodable, so it is important that young readers have the opportunity to learn these words independently. We will use our trucks and tools to help us construct these words. Every week throughout this course we will build our reading skills as we identify and build phonics and letter sounds to make words. I will also support the students as they use their important social and communication skills as they share their thoughts about the vehicles and practice their letter sounds throughout the lesson. Students will be encouraged and supported as they participate in class. If you feel that your child may be shy or anxious about participating in class please feel free to contact me in advance and let me know. **************************************************************** The class schedule is as follows: --------🚛 SEPTEMBER 🚛-------- Week 09/04: and, a Week 09/11: big, little Week 09/18: it, is Week 09/25 red, the --------🚛 OCTOBER 🚛-------- Week 10/02: can, blue Week 10/09: not, was Week 10/16: find, one Week 10/23: look, two Week 10/30: see, three --------🚛 NOVEMBER 🚛-------- Week 11/06: not, said Week 11/13: box, want Week 11/20: No class this week (Thanksgiving break) Week 11/27: help, what --------🚛 DECEMBER 🚛-------- Week 12/04: up, down Week 12/11: go, run Week 12/18: zoom, my This is an ongoing class and students are welcome to join and leave the class at any time.
