🌟🌟Brand NEW Class🌟🌟 I LOVE teaching children how to read! I am a certified elementary school teacher with many years of experience of teaching kindergarten in a public school system. For the past few years, I have been enjoying teaching children how to read here on Outschool! This is a phonics based reading class that aligns with the Science of Reading. The reading skills that I will teach in this class will help build a solid foundation that learners will be able to use to read longer words in the future. The class will include the following: 1. a "would you rather" question as an introduction and way to get to know each other 2. reading instruction - I will teach a simple and effective way to sound out words and blend the sounds together. 3. reading practice & Bingo game - learners will take turns sounding out/reading words while playing a fun and interactive game. If possible, please the attached Bingo sheet so that your child can play along. 4. reading a story together! Each learner will have the opportunity to read a page in a short story about an animal! I will provide support and guidance as needed. I look forward to teaching your learner how to read! Please check my class listings for the other classes that focus on the other vowel sounds! If you are planning to take the other vowel sound classes as well, you may want to print one of the attached record sheets for your child to track their progress as they learn to read with all the different vowel sounds. There are 2 different record sheets to choose from: a space theme or an animal theme. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions.

Learners should know most/all of their letter sounds before taking this class.
Supply List
Please print the attached PDF Bingo sheet game. Please provide your learner with Bingo chips or something else that can be used instead. Ideas: a marker/pen to make an X on the sheet or cheerios or lego pieces, etc. I have also included a CVC record sheet in case you are interested/planning to take all 5 of the vowel sound classes with me. There are 2 record sheets to choose from: an animal theme or a space theme. If you are unable or prefer not to print these papers, it's totally ok - your child can still engage in the game/activities during the class.
