Learn to Read! Module 3: Digraphs and Blends

This foundational class, taught by certified teachers, introduces students to essential reading skills in a fun and engaging way. Our curriculum is 100% aligned to a comprehensive, heavily researched,  systematic and explicit phonics-based scope & sequence that is rooted in the Science of Reading. This class is designed to give students a solid foundation in phonological awareness, digraphs, blends, word building, and decodable reading. Our desire is to SPARK your child’s passion for reading through a variety of activities and games. Students will learn digraphs, double endings, and beginning blends over the course of 16 weeks in an order that is optimal to build, write, and read words (see scope and sequence below). We will also work on high frequency words, multisyllabic words, and fluency. Students can join the class at any time as we spiral back to review all previously taught concepts each week.  It’s the perfect class for ESL students too!

There is no prerequisite for this class, but students will benefit with a strong foundation in letters, sounds, and CVC words which we offer in our previous modules.

Week 8: doubled l, f, s, z
Week 9: doubled l, f, s, z
Week 10: open syllables
Week 11: bl-, cl-, fl-
Week 12: gl-, pl-, sl-
Week 13:  cr-, br-, dr-, fr-
Week 14: gr-, pr-, tr-
Week 15: sc-, sk-, sn-, sm-
Week 16: sp-, st-, sw-, tw-

Decodable books and additional resources will be provided each week to enrolled students for extra practice.
