Description
Class Experience
Each class will begin with a short phonemic awareness exercise and then a review of individual letter sounds. Learners will listen and repeat words. They will be guided and directed to write the sounds they hear. This ongoing class will focus on one syllable (CVC) and (CVCC) words. Mixed media is highly incorporated in class while implementing a multi-sensory learning approach to engage visual, auditory, tactile and kinesthetic learners. Letter sounds covered in these classes include: Week of May 10: short a, i, o, e, & u; consonant sounds: d, k, m, n, p, s, ch, sh, ck, c, h, t, th, f, w, ss, tt, ll, l, r, wh, ng, b, g, j. Week of May 17: short a, i, o, e, & u; consonant sounds: d, k, m, n, p, s, ch, sh, ck, c, h, t, th, f, w, ss, tt, ll, l, r, wh, ng, b, g, j. Week of May 24: short a, i, o, e, & u; consonant sounds: d, k, m, n, p, s, ch, sh, ck, c, h, t, th, : f, w, ss, tt, ll, l, r, wh, ng, b, g, j. Week of May 31: short a, i, o, e, & u; consonant sounds: d, k, m, n, p, s, ch, sh, ck, c, h, t, th, : f, w, ss, tt, ll, l, r, wh, ng, b, g, j. Week of June 7: short a, i, o, e, & u; consonant sounds: d, k, m, n, p, s, ch, sh, ck, c, h, t, th, : f, w, ss, tt, ll, l, r, wh, ng, b, g, j. Learners will be given opportunities to decode and spell words, to sort words, to recognize misspellings, and to gain proficiency in using all this information.
