Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1
One reason we teach kids to form their uppercase letters from the top down and that there is a specific approach to making each letter…and the reason is – it's faster! Poor construction equals slow, inefficient writing, but more importantly when a student writes from top to bottom, and left to right they are preparing their brains to read from top to bottom and left to right.

In this ongoing class students will be explicitly taught how to write each letter. Students will follow along on their own whiteboard practicing writing the letters targeted each week.
Each week will highlight 2-3 consonants and a vowel. Teacher will model the proper formation of the lowercase and capital letters for each, and students will be guided in sounding out short words using these letters. This is a highly engaging class where students immediately practice what they learn in class, and present for feedback.

**This class is very similar to my class Multi-sensory Phonics and Phonemic Awareness, but targeted at basic blending and word building. This class is designed for the younger learner still mastering their letter formation.
Learning Goals
Students will master letter identification and proper letter formation. Students will practice sounding out new words and reading words one sound at a time.
