Class Experience

This 25-minute minute class takes place twice a week. We keep practicing three-letter words, but now add lots of final consonant blends to build confidence with four-letter words. This class is a great sequel to Learn to Read 3. Each class we review phonics, practice spelling and writing, play games with sight words, and we practice reading unique mini stories together and independently. My teaching style is very high energy, so we make sure to intermingle songs and movement into class to keep kids engaged. I give kids lots of opportunities for success so students can realize they have all the tools to read.

Supplies
We practice spelling every class, so please bring something to write with.

Outside of Class
To become confident readers, we need to read a lot. That's why I send out a new mini book and set of heart words each week for students to practice on their own. You're welcome to bring these to class, but it's not required. Watch for bonus writing practice assignments that I also include periodically to help your child practice spelling and handwriting after class.

Weekly Schedule
Week 1- Word Family -UN & Final Consonant Blends Part 1
Week 2- Final Consonant Blends Part 2 & Word Family -EE
Week 3- Final Consonant Blends Part 3
Week 4- Ending Consonants Blends Part 4

Is my child the right level for this class?
Students that can read simple 3-letter words are a good fir for this class. This is great for advanced preschoolers, new kindergarteners, or any emergent reader that needs to gain confidence. If you still need to work on your letter sounds, try out my Circle Time class. If you know your letter sounds but still need to practice blending two-letters together, try Learn to Read 1, 2, or 3.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Teacher Sharon, and I’m an energetic mother of 3 children with a master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I have over a decade of experience teaching kids online and 4 years experience running my own preschool. Here's my teaching philosophy.
1. Kids don't need to be in a classroom all day to learn.
2. Children learn best through play and when motivated by their natural curiosity.
3. Education should be affordable!
As an Outschool teacher I’m able to offer classes based on this teaching philosophy to even more students, and I’m so excited to broaden my reach.
