In Ms. Kim’s reading phonics class for kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades, we will learn about 10-15 phonics skills through chants and/or hand clapping and use of a graphic organizer. There are 3 activities in the classes. -First, going over the phonics skill (using anchor charts and/or chants) -Practice sounding out...
-Students will learn about 14 phonics skills. -Through chants or songs, students will learn the phonics skill sound. -Using graphic organizers and finger tapping, students will learn how to decode and blend phonics skills. -Students will learn about vowel markings (breve/macron). -Students will look for syllable patterns in words. -Students will practice reading simple sentences and spelling.
I have a master's degree in education (M.S. Ed). I've received state certifications in Early Childhood Education (Birth-2) and Students with Disabilities (Grades 1-6) Over 20 year's experience in elementary education especially learners from ages 5-8. I have a Classroom Educator Level Certificate in Orton Gillingham Reading Approach to help learners with dyslexia however it can benefit all learners.

The learners should have fluency in: -recognizing letters and their sounds -vowel letters -consonants vs vowels -concept of short and long vowel sounds -basic sight words recognition -writing skills
*(OPTIONAL) All pdf worksheets and supplies are optional however to maximize the learning environment the learner should have the following supplies: *An optional pdf file of an activity packet will be uploaded to the classroom every week. The pdf packet includes: - Decoding and blending sentence page -Spelling worksheet -choose the spelling page that would fit your spelling need. *Other options: -You can use loose paper/notebook or dry eraser board and markers. -You can use the annotation on Zoom for spelling part of the class. *Some optional supply suggestions that you can use are: -pencils -crayons/colored pencils -dry erase board and dry erase markers -loose paper -notebook

The lessons will be created on Google Jamboard and/or Google Slides in which I will share my screen with the learners. The learners won't need an account to engage in the lessons.
