👨🚀 Ready, Set, Robots! Are you ready for the challenge? Robots can be very expensive, but this class will teach your child how to program a virtual robot using a series of coding challenges that are interesting and exciting. ******************************************** 🤓 What will be taught? Students will learn about artificial intelligence, robotics, and coding. ********************************************* 🤖 How is your class structured? At the start of each week, I will post the challenge for the week and a video that the students will watch in order to complete it. Students will submit a file containing their code directly to me under the week’s post. I will then give feedback to each student on a weekly basis by sending a direct message to each student. ******************************************** 🥰 What's your teaching style? As a certified ESE teacher, I use many different techniques to help keep children enganged. Learners and parents can expect a very dynamic style class with lots of activities that will engage young minds. ******************************************** How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)? Students will interact in class by recording a video or audio message each week answering our discussion questions. This video will be posted in the classroom for other students to view and give feedback. ***************************************** Any required experience or knowledge learners need? Learners should have some basic knowledge in block coding. This class is the next step for students who have taken my Scratch basic or intermediate classes. ________________________________________________ Weekly Lessons 💻 Week#1: Robot Vacuum- programming with random numbers The Artistic Robot - Using pen commands ------------------------------------- Week#2: Disc Pickup- using functions ------------------------------------ Week#3: The Maze - programming sensors ------------------------------------- Week#4: Final Challenge Robot STEM Project- Technology meets Science --------------------------------------- 💚 Special note regarding the robotics platform for Vex: This free site does not require your learner to open an account or allow them communicate with any other coders. Although the site is appropiate for learners of all ages, parents are highly adviced to monitor online activity.
Learning Goals
At the end of the four week course, students will understand:
- What is artificial intelligence and the use of it in their daily lives.
- How can we help the environment with the use of robots.
- How robots can be used across different fields of work.
