Do you want to learn a new instrument? What about one that can fit in your pocket? In this class, we'll learn the basics of the kalimba, an instrument that really can fit into your pocket! You will learn how to use number-based kalimba music sheets to play songs like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Part of Your World, and so many more! Not only will we learn 1-2 songs in class, but we will also learn how to apply your new skills and learn any song that can be played on a pocket kalimba.

Class will be part demonstration and part participation. There will be a short lecture about the skills needed to use the handouts, then some call-and-response activities, where students will have the opportunity to play individually for the class if they are comfortable! I do not believe in forcing public performance- if a student is not comfortable trying something in front of the class, then we will move on without question.
