In this 8-week class, students begin a lifetime journey into the exciting and healthful game of golf. Your learner will find out how to select just the right club for the job to send the ball sailing down the fairway, onto the green, and into the cup. Week 1Lesson 1Grip and SwingThis lesson is about how to properly grip and swing a golf club.Week 2Lesson 2Parts of the Course and Club SelectionThis lesson teaches about different parts of the golf course, and how to select the proper club based on where they are on the course.Week 3Lesson 3PuttingThis lesson covers the basics of putting.Week 4Lesson 4ChippingThis lesson covers the basics of chipping, or close shots onto the green.Week 5Lesson 5Fairway and RoughThis lesson is about the basics of hitting an iron shot. Students will upload their own videos and receive feedback from the teacher.Week 6Lesson 6HazardsThis lesson is about how to hit a ball out of a sand trap and what to do if they hit a ball out of bounds.Week 7Lesson 7Off the TeeThis lesson is about the basics of hitting off the tee. the basics of hitting off the teeWeek 8Lesson 8Driving Range/CourseStudents will go to a driving range or, ideally, to a golf course to practice what they have learned.
Students will learn to correctly grip a golf club. Students will learn how to swing a golf club. Students will learn the different parts of a golf course. Students will learn some of the basic rules of golf.
I grew up playing golf with my family and played competitively on my middle school and high school golf teams. As an adult, I have taught and coached young golfers with First Tee, and I have continued to play recreationally with family and friends.
Homework Offered
Students will take weekly trips to outdoor locations - sometimes a back yard or neighborhood park, other times to a driving range, and (preferably) at least one trip to a golf course Students will take pictures and/or video to demonstrate their learning. Students will participate in group discussion about golf scenarios.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
