In this 4-part course, students will learn the basic skills of knitting while creating their very own cotton pot holder. This course is slow paced and designed for children ages 8-11 with no previous knitting experience. Learners will follow along as I walk them through each part of each lesson step by step. Each child will receive individual attention and be able to ask any questions they have as we go along. Lesson One: Introductions How to read a pattern How to tie a slip knot How to hold the needles How to cast on Lesson Two: How to cast on (continued) The Knit Stitch Lesson Three: The Knit Stitch (continued) Lesson Four: How to Bind off How to knit an I-cord How to weave in loose ends **Learners older than the maximum required age are welcome to enroll in this class, however, learners MUST be at least 8 years of age.**

Students will learn how to cast on, knit, and bind off their first knitting project: a pot holder!

Supply List
One pair of straight knitting needles (US size 6) One pair of double pointed needles (US size 6) One skein of cotton yarn (4 - medium worsted) (I like the brand: Lily Sugar n’ Cream) One pair of scissors One large darning needle These supplies can all be purchased at most craft supply stores (Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, etc.) or online (Amazon, Knit Picks, and more) The pattern I have created for the pot holder will be available to students in PDF form upon enrollment.
