Class Experience

Students will learn what to look for when starting a drawing. How does the image influence what size paper to use and which direction to hold it in? How does holding my pencil affect how my line will look? Why is sketching so important? What shapes should I start with? All of these things are skills learned through years of practice. I'll teach your child to understand the basic steps of drawing that will help them to grow as Artists. At the end of this class they'll have a better understanding of how to approach drawing and what skills are most important.
Students should have a finished drawing or one well on its way at the end of this class. All students are encouraged to use their drawing as a starting point to create other drawings using the fundamental skills learned in this class.
8x10 or 9x12 white drawing paper
lead pencil and eraser
colored pencils and crayons
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There is no formal assessment but I will be giving guidance during the class.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
