45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this class we will combine two popular favorites- tasty sushi and the kawaii drawing style (meaning "cute" in Japanese), to draw a variety of adorable sushi and condiments. This class is suitable for both beginners and practicing artists- no prior drawing experience is necessary. After greetings and introductions, I will draw each character individually and step-by-step using a second camera, so students can clearly see and follow along with the drawing. We will draw as many characters as the time allows, and I will demonstrate some coloring techniques with colored pencil on a couple of the characters. For the last few minutes of class, students can color in their drawings, share the finished pieces with the group, or create some cute characters of their own. While drawing, learners are welcome to socialize and interact with the teacher and each other. (We will use the mute function as needed if background noises are too disruptive, in which case learners are encouraged to raise their hand at any time if they have questions or comments.) This is a fun and laid back class where we will explore the kawaii style and elements (such as proportions and how to draw eyes and facial features), which we will apply to the sushi characters.
