Class Experience
US Grade 2 - 8
Intermediate Level
In this ongoing private tutorial class, your learner will learn to draw realistic portraits of beautiful animals using graphite pencils. They will learn basic facial proportions, including the placement of eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. Students will develop a portrait in five steps following specific guidelines. They will learn graphite pencil drawing techniques such as shading and hatching to create three dimensionality in their portraits as well as realistic fur and hair! Students will also learn about the different pencils that are used in sketching such as 2B, 4B, 6B and 8B. This drawing class is designed for students aged 8 to 13 as we channel our heartfelt love for our four-legged furry compatriots, supporting us every day. Throughout the class, participants are also encouraged to share their own experiences with their pets or animals they have encountered as we acknowledge the little spirits that nourish us with love. As a teacher I will provide a chance for your learner to ask questions during drawing instruction. Portrait work is considered one of the highest forms of art and it requires practice and precision. It is my hope to instill a love for drawing in your learner. They may even discover a new drawing journey into the world of pet portraiture. Drawings can range from White Tailed Deer to Gecko Lizard! Your student can request animal drawings too! All drawings will be done in an environment that will allow the artist to share 1-on-1 attention catered specifically to their learning needs. This private lesson is geared specifically for students who love to draw and are looking to learn from a portrait artist and a School Psychologist who has years of experience working with children from ages 5 to 15 with unique learning styles!
