1 hour per week. Most classes I assign homework to practice what we learned in the lesson.Class Experience
Prepare to wow your friends and family with your amazing cartoon animal characters! Each class starts with a new topic or technique and a short practice to boost your skills. Then, using simple steps, we will draw an animal character together. I'll be there to assist you in fixing any mistakes. Let's unleash our creativity and create masterpieces together! Class Structure: 1. Students are warmly welcomed and encouraged to share any artwork they've previously created with the class. 2. I'll teach a short (typically ten minutes) lesson, as outlined in the curriculum below. 3. Following the lesson, we do a drawing activity to practice what we learned (approximately five minutes). 4. I quickly explain the optional homework. 5. The bulk of the class time (typically 45 minutes) we draw one of my illustrations together. They are nearly always anthropomorphic animal characters but occasionally it will be a human or landscape. Curriculum: These are the following topics covered in this class. Each topic takes an average of four lessons to cover. 1. Linework 2. Shape 3. Form 4. Facial Expressions 5. Body Language/Poses 7. Loose vs. Tight Drawing 8. Studies 9. Hands 10. Feet *I am constantly reworking my curriculum and lessons to try to improve them. The overall idea of the curriculum is to teach your child the fundamentals of art so that they can create not just beautiful cartoon characters, but anything they can imagine. Part of the lessons are specifically focused on drawing cartoon characters.

Supply List
1. Drawing paper - 9x12 inches is the standard. Printer paper may be used, but it is very smooth and is more difficult to work on. Paper like Strathmore Sketch paper is much better for drawing and it can be found online or at most art stores. We will use more than once piece of paper each class. 2. Graphite pencils of hardness 2b or softer. Common pencils used in school will work but, once again, are a bit more difficult to work with. They also cannot draw very dark. 3. Eraser 4. Pencil sharpener *Students are welcome to draw digitally if that is what they prefer.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from University of North Carolina at Wilmington
🎨I am TEFL certified and I've been teaching both in classrooms and online since 2013. As a professional artist selling digital art, prints, and oil paintings, I delved into art seriously in 2015 and further honed my skills at the Academy of Classical Design in 2019. My passions converged when I joined Outschool in 2020, where I've been teaching art ever since.
Continuously refining my curricula since day one, I've witnessed remarkable growth in students who engage with the lessons and complete their classwork and homework diligently.
When I'm not creating art or teaching, I love spending time with my two children and doggy (Laney). I also love playing sports (basketball, soccer and volleyball), reading, and learning other languages (Spanish and Chinese).
Here are some reviews I've received from my classes on Outschool:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐My teenager loves this class and looks forward to it every week. She is learning a lot and excited to try out all the skills Kyle is teaching. - Julie S.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Very patient, helpful, and kind. My daughter is new to digital art and has needed a lot of help figuring out the drawing pad. Mr. Camu has been great about guiding her in the classroom while still managing other students and his lesson. - Ms. C
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Excellent teacher. My son really loves working with Kyle and can’t wait for his next class to start. - Scott S.
