In this ongoing class we will learn drawing techniques each week related to drawing faces and the human figure. Working with observation from a photo reference, we will create drawings showing emotion, expression, and movement.

US Grade 5 - 8
Beginner - Intermediate Level
This class is for students who love to draw people and want to learn realistic drawing techniques and skills related to that. This is a weekly ongoing class which means that students may enroll for as many sessions as they would like, and each lesson stands on its own. Each week we will create a drawing of the human figure within a unique setting, or a portrait expressing an emotion. This class might appeal to artists who are interested in comics, graphic novels, animae, or fashion.

LESSON SEQUENCE: 
- 5 minutes for check in and slide presentation (art vocabulary, art skills, photo reference)
- 40 minutes to sketch and draw
- 5 minutes to share (optional) photo reference for drawing

- Contour lines
- Proportion
- Shading and texture
- Emotion, movement and expression

Pencil or Drawing Pencils (HB or B, 2B, 4B, 6B)

As the instructor I will set up a second camera projection and draw with the students, providing instruction along the way.  Students are encouraged to add their own creative ideas and details, and I strive to create a learning environment that is supportive, relaxed and fun.
Learning Goals
Student will create one drawing of a portrait or human figure.
Student will create one drawing including the following drawing technique: shading, sketching, line variety. 
Student will demonstrate knowledge of proportion, gesture or expression through drawing.
