Class Experience

For this one time class, we are going to learn drawing techniques that will help us draw an anime characters’ face and hair. Learners will be able to create a portrait of an anime character they create, or one that already exists, in their own anime style.

If you are interested in learning how to draw in a particular anime style you like, feel free to let me know before class. You can tell me the name of the anime and particular character. I will be happy to focus on the style you prefer.
This session will be s small class size of 1 to 6 learners, and last 1 hour and 10 minutes. This class includes practice time where learners can spend some time working on their own, share their progress and ask questions.

Areas that we will cover:
-Sketching and planing where to place the features of the face (like how far apart and size)
-When to use light and dark lines
-Basic shading on face and hair
-How to create shine effects on hair
-Different ways to draw eyes and expressions
-Practice-time and tips

Class Structure:
First I would like to know about your experience with drawing or anime if any :)
I will briefly show you ways to draw an anime portrait.
Then I’ll explain step by step, so you can follow along.
Then you can practice on your own.
You will create your own portrait, which can resemble any character you like.
While you work on your portrait you can ask questions and share your progress with me or other students.
We can create more than one small portrait, depending on the learner’s pace. If we get to do more portraits we can practice drawing more hairstyles and shapes of facial features.
We will finish class with some feedback and tips that can help with your personal anime drawing goals.

Required materials for this class are paper, pencil and eraser.
I also recommend bringing a fine-tip marker as well.

Beginner and intermediate artists are welcome. I will make sure to adjust to learner’s pace.
I am encouraging, and will gently let students know things they can do differently to help achieve their personal drawing goals.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Ceres, I teach Watercolor and Drawing Classes.
My goal is for my students to develop a strong understanding on the fundamentals of watercolor and drawing while having fun painting and expressing themselves through art.
Students will gain understanding on working with these mediums by completing fun painting exercises, participating in step by step art pieces, as well as creating their own artwork after experimenting and learning new techniques!
I want to create a safe space where students can learn Art in a fun way. To be able to experiment, possibly make mistakes and learn from them, to then try again. The most I ask for my students is to try their best!
I have a total of 4 years teaching experience, where I’ve thought in after school program and summer camp, as well as teaching online. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts with concentration in teaching. I’m also bilingual in English and Spanish.
