1 in-class hours per weekHomework
1 hour per week. I will add the reference and my work to the classroom after each class so that students who want to work more on the picture can. I will also offer optional homework suggestions each week for students who want more practice with what we learned in class.Class Experience
Prepare to wow your friends and family with your amazing realistic animal drawings in this class! Each class starts with a new topic or technique to boost your skills. Then, we'll draw realistic animals based on reference photos. I'll guide you through each step, helping you fix any mistakes as we go along. Let's make some masterpieces together! Class Structure: 1. Students are warmly welcomed and encouraged to share any artwork they've previously created with the class. 2. I'll teach a short (typically ten minutes) lesson, as outlined in the curriculum below. 3. Following the lesson, we practice what we learned (usually five minutes). 4. I quickly explain the optional homework. 5. The bulk of the class time (typically 45 minutes) we draw a realistic animal from reference together. Curriculum: These are the following topics covered in this class. Each topic takes an average of four lessons to cover. 1. Linework 2. Edges 3. Shape 4. Form 5. Perspective 6. Value 7. Master Study/Studies *I am constantly reworking my curriculum and lessons to try to improve them. The overall idea of the curriculum is to teach your child the fundamentals of art so that they can create not just beautiful animals, but anything they can see or imagine.

Supply List
1. Drawing paper - 9x12 inches is the standard. Toned tan or toned gray paper like Strathmore Toned Tan Sketch paper or Strathmore Toned Gray Mixed Media are ideal for this class (and for drawing in general). They can be found online or at most art stores. *Note: printer paper may be used, but it is very smooth and is more difficult to work on. It is also not as durable and tends to tear with too much erasing. 2. Graphite pencils of hardness 2b or softer. Common pencils used in school will work but are a bit more difficult to work with. They also cannot draw very dark. 3. Eraser 4. Pencil sharpener 5. Ruler (not required, but helpful) 6. White charcoal pencil (only if your child also has toned or gray paper - not required.)

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from University of North Carolina at Wilmington
🎨I am TEFL certified and I've been teaching both in classrooms and online since 2013. As a professional artist selling digital art, prints, and oil paintings, I delved into art seriously in 2015 and further honed my skills at the Academy of Classical Design in 2019. My passions converged when I joined Outschool in 2020, where I've been teaching art ever since.
Continuously refining my curricula since day one, I've witnessed remarkable growth in students who engage with the lessons and complete their classwork and homework diligently.
When I'm not creating art or teaching, I love spending time with my two children and doggy (Laney). I also love playing sports (basketball, soccer and volleyball), reading, and learning other languages (Spanish and Chinese).
Here are some reviews I've received from my classes on Outschool:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐My teenager loves this class and looks forward to it every week. She is learning a lot and excited to try out all the skills Kyle is teaching. - Julie S.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Very patient, helpful, and kind. My daughter is new to digital art and has needed a lot of help figuring out the drawing pad. Mr. Camu has been great about guiding her in the classroom while still managing other students and his lesson. - Ms. C
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Excellent teacher. My son really loves working with Kyle and can’t wait for his next class to start. - Scott S.
