Class Experience

Students will learn how to use an income statement by summarizing revenues and expenses. This will show the net income or net loss of a business, for a given fiscal period.
Though I have over 25 years of baseball coaching experience at the amateur, collegiate and international levels, I have been able to use my formal education to operate a business related to the sport of baseball. For the past twelve years, I have operated Last Raps Baseball, a North Vancouver, BC, based business that provides baseball instruction to those who are aged 8 to 18 years old.

Though I hold formal education with an Honours degree in Business Administration, a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English, and a Bachelor of Education degree, I have not formally taught in the classroom. Baseball has been my life long passion, and I have chosen to do my teaching between the chalk.
This class opens up the other side of my life which many people don't see and that is operating the business. This class will provide students the opportunity to learn how to create an income statement and we will use eBay as its example.
There is no homework for this class.
I suggest that students may wish to have a pen, pencil and paper in which to make notes.

I will provide sample material for the students to work with so that we can create the income statements.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There is no formal assessment, however learners will be asked to verbally recall information presented from the class to keep them engaged in the lesson.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
There are no sources required for this class, however it might be good for students to familiarize themselves with how eBay works as this will be the practical model for this class.
