Beginner Level
Let's use code to join Anna and Elsa as they explore the magic and beauty of ice. We will be using block-based coding to create snowflakes and patterns as you ice-skate and make a winter wonderland that you can then share with your friends! In this lesson, learners get an introductory experience with coding and computer science in a safe, supportive environment. Learners will have the opportunity to work on his/her own page and have any questions answered by the instructor. Learners will get a chance to explore on his/her own. The beauty of coding is that one can never really fail. One simply finds ways that don't work, until a way that work is found. There are always multiple different ways to complete any task. This lesson has been designed for learners in the middle grades, ages 10-13. Learners should have a basic understanding of simple geometry and drawing angles.
Learning Goals
Students will learn coding and programming (using blocks), as well as simple debugging techniques.

I am a New York State certified teacher and have been teaching for over 16 years. Over the years I have taught 7 and 8th-grade science, High School Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, and Algebra. I have degrees from Boston College and Fordham University and am currently pursuing a doctoral degree from Stony Brook University.
You will find classes and tutoring from me on coding, math, and science, including ACT and SAT Prep. I also like to share my passions, so you may also see some quilting and crafting classes.
I believe that all students can learn, it's just a matter of finding a way to connect to them. In my spare time, I love crafting, quilting, and knitting.
