This 4 week FLEX class presents 4 classic rock songs for the students to dive into. Young drummers will learn to train their ears as well as read sheet music as I take them note for note through these timeless classics!
Class experience
This four week course is aimed at students who have already gotten a little bit of experience in learning how to play drums and are feeling like they are ready to challenge themselves by starting to play along with songs. Each week the student will receive a different classic rock song to learn. The student is provided with a full sheet music transcription of the song for drums as well as a full play-through video performance from me where I play the song note for note. Week 1Lesson 1Learn Sweet Child o Mine `on drumsThis week the lesson is on how to play the song Sweet Child o Mine by Guns and Roses on the drums. Students will receive a video play through of the song performed by the teacher, a PDF drum score of the song and an extensive video lesson detailing and explaining all the necessary information in order for the student to begin playing the song.Week 2Lesson 2Learn Eye of the Tiger on drumsThis week the lesson is on how to play the song Eye of the Tiger by Survivor on the drums. Students will receive a video play through of the song performed by the teacher, a PDF drum score of the song and an extensive video lesson detailing and explaining all the necessary information in order for the student to begin playing the song.Week 3Lesson 3Learn Enter Sandman on drumsThis week the lesson is on how to play the song Enter Sandman by Metallica on the drums. Students will learn how to play these 4 classic songs note for note. They will also learn how to read sheet music as well as how to transcribe and learn drums by ear. They will also gain important insight into how to effectively practice and memorize songs.
I have 30 years professional drumming experience as a touring performer and recording artist and composer. I also have over 20 years experience teaching students of all ages from beginner to college level online and in person.
Students should have a familiarity already with the basic foundational elements of playing the drum set in order to successfully be able to play these songs.
Students will be required to listen to the 4 songs repeatedly as they get to know the music, they will be required to find the songs online at the streaming/music provider of their choice eg: YouTube music, Apple Music, Spotify etc.
There will be no upsetting or scary content.
Students will learn from my own personal drum transcription library.
