US Grade 3 - 4
In this one-time class, we will discuss the importance of close reading in English class... without even reading a text! Learners often complain in English class when they are asked to reread a passage they have already read. After they understand the importance of this task, the groaning tends to fade. In this one-time class, learners will be taught the why and the how of close reading. We will do this by analyzing a complex image. The longer we look at the image, the more things we will notice! We will realize that things are not quite as they seem. Each time we look at the image, we will build upon our prior knowledge to fully comprehend the art. By the end of the lesson, learners will fully understand why their English teachers may ask them to read a text multiple times. They will know that the purpose is to deepen their knowledge and understanding to develop a strong analysis of the text. If you have any questions or hesitations prior to enrolling, please reach out!
Learning Goals
Learners will understand the purpose of reading a text multiple times.
