In this weekly class students will learn the letters and sounds of the English alphabet. After all of the letters and sounds are taught, I will begin teaching CVC (consonant vowel consonant words such as cat, box, etc.).

Each week we will learn new letters and practice previous letters as needed. Words will be added in as the letters are learned. Visuals will be provided for every word that is taught. 

All ages and proficiency levels are welcome, but I suggest a parent be nearby for younger children in case they need assistance with anything. 

I will use songs, videos, slides, stories, and games in the lesson to keep the children engaged. (I also have a puppet named Taco who helps with the lessons). I am limiting the class size to 4 students so that each child will get many chances to pronounce the sounds, name the letters and read the words each week. This will also allow more opportunity to revisit any letters or sounds a child needs more practice on. Some weeks will include a set of printable cards for your child to practice at home in between lessons. 

Children may join the class at any time. We will cycle through the letters repeatedly through the lessons, so there will always be time for a newcomer to catch up. 

After your child reaches competence in this class, I recommend the English Blends and Digraphs Course followed by the I Can Read and Write class (where children will practice sight words and begin writing words and sentences).

Along with new letters, each week we will continue practicing the previously learned letters.
