Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, My name is Rudi Moolman. I am a science graduate as well as a black belt karate instructor. I will therefore teach biology classes as well as Karate. I am from Southern Africa (Namibia), however, I currently live in the United Kingdom and coach karate for both schools and a local club. I am a third-degree black belt in Shotokan and have had the privilege to compete on a national and international level. My greatest achievement in Karate was winning the JSKA World-championship title in 2014 and 2016. I was also nominated and won sportsman of the Year in Namibia in 2016 and was nominated as a finalist in the Southern African Sportsman of the Year Awards. I am experienced in teaching all levels of Karate- from beginner to black belt.
My approach for teaching differs per age group and karate level. For beginners and young learners, I believe it is important to be fun, engaging and challenging. With more experienced students I believe it important to uphold the traditional style of Karate and enable my students to improve, be challenged and aim for perfection. No one may be perfect, however, it is important to always strive to be the best version of yourself.
I will also be offering biology classes as this is a passion of mine. I graduated in molecular biology and biotechnology. I am also currently completing a masters degree in Stem-cells and regeneration. I have had experience teaching High school Science at a top private school in Namibia.
I believe it is important to make lessons engaging and to keep things simple. Growing up I had some teachers who are well-meaning and well-educated, however, they taught Science on such a high-grade level that it was lost due to complexity. The most complex subject can be simplified and understood by anyone depending on the teacher. I strive to be that teacher.
I look forward to teaching you and getting to know you. Something else about me- I love adventure and travel. I have sky-dived, bungee-jumped and shark-cage dived!
