Description

Class Experience

By the end of our time together, students will have a deep understanding of how to identify a theme within a text and how to write a thematic essay.
Students will be given time to write in class, but more writing should be done outside of class to make sure the essay is done in time.
 1 file available upon enrollment
A handout of the story will be provided for students upon enrollment. Students will need a word processing program to write their essay in.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
"All Summer in a Day" does deal with bullying. The students in the story lock the protagonist in the closet, forcing her to miss an event she had been waiting years for, which in turn crushes her spirit. This will be talked about in an age-appropriate manner, and students will come to an understanding about the ramifications of the bullies' actions.
