Learning the names of all fifty United States is very important... but I think is even more important is that you can locate them on a map! I learned this song when I was in 1st grade and it always comes in handy when looking on a map! In these 4 courses we will break down each border of the United States (Northern, Southern, Eastern, Central, Pacific). Course 1: Northern Border- We will learn 13 states that are located on the Northern Border of The United States. We will learn each state...
Students will be able to identify all 50 states names and locations on a map. They will be able to recall basic facts about each state like the state abbreviation, state bird, state flower, flag, etc.
In the final class, students will bring a decorate template of the state they live in or a state they want to learn more about. The template will be provided. They will need to print it out and we will decorate them in class however they like. If they choose to present their project to the class, they will show their work and tell what state they chose and where it is located on a map! If they are interested, students can also use the resource links to learn more about each state and their facts!
Students will be provided with a blank map of The United States to be printed. It would be helpful to have crayons or markers to color in the states as we learn them! They will also need to print the template of their home state to decorate. They will use various art supplies of their choice to decorate their state!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 10 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
