In this one-time, one-on-one class, the student will participate in an activity designed not only to help them learn their 11’s and 12’s times tables but also to further the larger mathematical goals of developing their number sense and strengthening their mental math skills. I am a National Board Certified elementary school teacher, and I have taught math every year of my 28-year career. I have been thoroughly trained in the Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) approach to mathematics. It's very important to me that my students make sense of their mathematics, develop strong conceptual understanding, build a solid foundation of skills, enjoy their math, gain confidence, and find the subject interesting, engaging, and meaningful.
40 minutes per class, and maybe some time outside of class.
