Class Experience

Studies show that music and songs are very effective in language learning, so let’s have fun learning new Spanish vocabulary and sentences while singing (and dancing for the not so shy). This class is an A1 level based on the CEFR.

Each week, we will focus on a specific theme and learn key vocabulary while learning a related song in Spanish.

First, I will introduce vocabulary and sentences using props and acting out movements. Then, you will practice the vocabulary.

Next, we will listen to a song and then sing it while acting out the different vocabulary and actions. This will help reinforce the new vocabulary and sentences in a fun, interactive way!

My classes are limited to five students so that each one will have an equal opportunity to practice and receive timely correction. I am a native Spanish speaker and an ELE (Spanish as a Foreign Language) certified teacher. I am an energetic, friendly, and patient teacher.

Class themes:
(Week 1) Family
(Week 2) Numbers
(Week 3) Body parts
(Week 4) Greetings and feelings
(Week 5) Farm animals
(Week 6) Opposites
(Week 7) Actions
(Week 8) Birthday song
(Week 9) Vowels
(Week 10) Greetings throughout the day
(Week 11) Colors
(Week 12) The Four Seasons

Classes starting on the week of September 4 will cover all the material (Week 1-week 15) ending on the week of December 11th.

This class meets once a week, but the classes DO NOT build on each other, so if you miss a class, you can jump right back in! The topics will cycle back to the beginning when completed.

My puppet friends (Pancho, Beto, Lucía, and Moño) and I can't wait to hear you sing in Spanish and have fun!

Parental Guidance
Parent involvement depends on the child’s learning habits and age. Kids ages four to six may need some support in the first few classes while they become familiar with Zoom and class activities. Older kids usually do well on their own; however, some supervision helps when they have difficulty focusing or if they are easily distracted.
Supply List
A toy microphone (if you have one)
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

¡Hola! My name is Profesora Mary, and I am excited to help your child learn Spanish.

I truly love working with children with my puppet friends: Pancho, Beto, Moño, and Lucía. Your child will love learning Spanish — at their pace — while playing games and singing songs with me and my friends. Your child will also have fun through my use of many props, including puffy animals, toys and more.

My ultimate goal when I teach is to make sure that my students obtain the skills to communicate in Spanish. I do this while making sure that my students have fun while learning. My class activities help students connect the learning material to their own world, facilitating language acquisition.

Teaching and learning languages are two of my passions. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to combine them and make them my profession. There is no other job that I could enjoy more, and I love to share my enthusiasm and energy with students in my classes.

I have worked very hard to be a qualified teacher, and I have achieved this through online and in-person teaching experience and by obtaining a number of certificates related to language instruction and teaching young learners. I am a certified ELE (Español como Lengua Extranjera - Spanish as a Foreign Language) Teacher and a native Spanish speaker.

I am a mom and some of my hobbies include learning languages, making crafts and playing the flute.

I look forward to helping your child learn!
