Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will learn basic grammatical structures in Spanish such as definite and indefinite articles, adjective agreement, the seven most common verbs in Spanish, and present tense verb conjugations. Vocabulary will be taught in context. Students will gain a vocabulary of between 200-400 words through reading and writing stories.
I am a certified Spanish teacher in California, Michigan and Arizona. I have 26 years of teaching experience, both online and in-person. I have a Master's Degree in Education. Additionally, I have studied abroad in Spain and Chile.
Students will work through short stories each week. Each story will have vocabulary and grammatical structures that will be practiced in a variety of ways. Students will complete assignments, games, puzzles and a final project as part of this course.
Students will need a notebook for their notes and access to Google Drive.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
The learner will be assessed informally. Each week, students will turn in a Google Form. Students will receive feedback and the opportunity to re-do work until they are successful. There will be a final project where students will write their own story.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Stories used in this course are on Google Slides/Powerpoint but will also be uploaded as PDFs for easier access for all students. Students will need a notebook for this class to keep track of vocabulary. Jamboard links will be given to students to complete digital vocabulary puzzles occasionally. Jamboard is through Google and students will need access to a Google account to save the puzzles, and stories if they choose to do so. Additionally, students may work with vocabulary in Gimkit, Nearpod and Flipgrid.
All stories and activities used in this course were written by the teacher.
