Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello/Hola!
My name is Tanya and I love teaching Spanish to all young learners. I absolutely enjoy teaching a language that has a special meaning to my personal life and education. Through this, it allows me to share my excitement for learning a new language and awareness of other cultures. Classes I teach include, Spanish immersion, beginning to advanced Spanish.
I have been able to serve the education community in various capacity; I’ve taught in a fifth grade dual language class for two years in Washington state where all subjects were covered in both English and Spanish. Additionally, I studied Spanish abroad in Spain to strengthen my knowledge of the language and culture. I also worked in Spokane Washington public and private schools, the topic I focused on and taught the most was Spanish. The Spanish courses ranged from beginning to advance in grades sixth through twelfth.
Learning a new language or enhancing it may be challenging therefore I strive to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, confident and excited to learn! I will use various strategies to ensure our classroom community will flourish, through engaging activities, quality instruction and positive relationship building.
A little something about me is I love to spend time with my family, friends and cat (Mochi). In my spare time I enjoy traveling to Mexico to visit family, reading mystery novels, playing board games, exploring the trails in Washington/Oregon and traveling to new places near home and far!
I look forward to meeting you all and I am excited to get the opportunity to share my passion for teaching! :-)
