Class Experience

In this class, we will have fun learning Spanish while having a “pretend” party with our favorite stuffed animals. This class is an A1 level based on the CEFR.

In each class, we will focus on a specific theme, and we will practice a few key sentences in the form of a basic conversation. I will first introduce key vocabulary words in Spanish, and we will then link these words together into sentences. We will practice the material through games, role play, songs, and fun activities with our stuffed animals!

For each class, our goal is for you to be able to say the sentences independently.

This class is for beginners or for those who are just starting to learn Spanish. No previous experience is needed.
Class Themes:
(Week 1): Let’s meet our friends
(Week 2): Tell us who you are
(Week 3): Tell us how you feel
(Week 4): Tell us what you have
(Week 5): Tell us what you like to do
(Week 6): Tell us where you go
(Week 7): Tell us what you eat
(Week 8): Tell us what you want
(Week 9): Tell us what you can do
(Week 10): Tell us what you see
(Week 11): Tell us what you drink

For each class, I carefully select props and realia, and my puppet friends join the class to make it more fun.

My classes are limited to five students so that each one will have an equal opportunity to practice and receive timely correction. I am a native Spanish speaker and an ELE (Spanish as a Foreign Language) certified teacher. I am an energetic, friendly, and patient teacher.

My puppet friends (Pancho, Beto, Lucía, and Moño) and I can't wait to hear your child speak Spanish with us while having fun!

Parental Guidance
Parent involvement depends on the child’s learning habits and age. Kids ages four to six may need some support in the first couple of classes while they get familiar with Zoom and the class activities. Older kids usually do well on their own; however, some supervision helps when they have difficulty focusing or if they are easily distracted.
Supply List
For each class, please bring 1-2 of your favorite stuffed animals.
Please also have a whiteboard with dry erase markers or a notebook with markers.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

¡Hola! My name is Profesora Mary, and I am excited to help your child learn Spanish.

I truly love working with children with my puppet friends: Pancho, Beto, Moño, and Lucía. Your child will love learning Spanish — at their pace — while playing games and singing songs with me and my friends. Your child will also have fun through my use of many props, including puffy animals, toys and more.

My ultimate goal when I teach is to make sure that my students obtain the skills to communicate in Spanish. I do this while making sure that my students have fun while learning. My class activities help students connect the learning material to their own world, facilitating language acquisition.

Teaching and learning languages are two of my passions. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to combine them and make them my profession. There is no other job that I could enjoy more, and I love to share my enthusiasm and energy with students in my classes.

I have worked very hard to be a qualified teacher, and I have achieved this through online and in-person teaching experience and by obtaining a number of certificates related to language instruction and teaching young learners. I am a certified ELE (Español como Lengua Extranjera - Spanish as a Foreign Language) Teacher and a native Spanish speaker.

I am a mom and some of my hobbies include learning languages, making crafts and playing the flute.

I look forward to helping your child learn!
