Class Experience

This ongoing class is for the beginning and intermediate Spanish students to help them learn new vocabulary useful for future or current Spanish grammar classes. If the student is already familiar with the vocabulary, this class will create an opportunity for practice. The topics for each week are listed below under Learning Goals. There will be between 20 words pertaining to each week's topics (no grammar involved) and students can choose which weeks to attend. The vocabulary & worksheets will be listed in a PDF file (and on Quizlet.com - optional) and made available at the beginning of the week. During the first 20 minutes of the class, we will review the vocabulary using pictures, short readings, and/or sentences. We will then complete worksheets, play bingo, show-&-tell, trivia questions, mad libs, or other similar activities so students can practice while having fun.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from Anahuac University in Tampico, Mexico
My name is Gabriela S., and I am a Spanish professor and tutor.

I am originally from Mexico and hold a LLB from the Anahuac University in Tampico, Mexico. I began teaching Spanish around 15 years ago by tutoring high school and middle school students at home. Later, I started teaching at a private university in the Detroit metro area, where I currently teach intermediate and upper levels.

I also had the incredible experience of homeschooling and teaching my own children, which helped me understand today's learning challenges.

Despite coming from a family of teachers, I never imagined that I would pursue a career in education. However, I truly enjoy teaching and helping students learn Spanish.
