Class Experience
Week 1: Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy Week 2: Deck The Halls Week 3: Feliz Navidad Week 4: First Noel Students - Who's ready to play like a rock star!? I know I am and we are going to have a blast together playing your favorite songs! Parents - Who's ready to have kids who are learning the most important fundamentals of music without even knowing it while playing their favorite songs and impressing their family and friends!? I know I am, and thousands of other parents are too, using our unique, engaging multi-level lessons. Each song is taught at multiple levels so everyone from the absolute beginner to a trained professional has an appropriate challenge, and everyone walks away being able to play the song! These lessons are all pre-recorded, but they were streamed live when they were recorded, so you may see interactions from the live participants. You are NOT missing out on any available live interactions. This class is a collection of live streamed lessons surrounding this theme. You CAN have your own personalized interactions through the classroom and by submitting videos for feedback, or just to show off :) This asynchronous class is a perfect fit for learning music because each student can take their own unique amount of time to practice and master the material and still always have the assistance of the teacher through the classroom chat or video submission. Students have access to the instructor when the lesson is too confusing or boring. Each lesson comes with homework assignments, downloadable, printable slides of the material, and all lessons include a play-along downloadable MP3 audio track to practice with. Students will be able to choose from a range of assignments, including using the teacher's Flipgrid.com classroom to submit videos of themselves playing the assignments. Students can also create interactive Kahoot.com review quizzes or play the ones provided by the teacher. Students will have the opportunity to collaborate with other students by playing along with other student video submissions and even jam together during the office hours, and can also participate in a final video mashup performance of the skills from the class, edit together by the teacher, from the student submissions. Students will also be able to discuss their individual questions with the class and teacher during the mid-week office hours. For students who cannot make it to the office hours, they can submit their questions in advance and will be provided the links to the recordings. Mid-week announcements and assignments will be provided to supplement the prerecorded content, as each class has individual needs. New videos are posted each week until all the songs are covered and each student has what they need to master the material! ANY keyboard will work! Really. It's not what you play, it's how you play it :) I've even had students who learn for a while practicing on a paper printout of a picture of a keyboard. We're training our muscles, not performing a concerto. Fancier pianos ARE more fun to play and might inspire more practice time, but I could do lots of great practice even on a little toy keyboard. I have some recommendations here: https://www.learnpianolive.com/blog/329-equipment.html

Teacher expertise and credentials
California Teaching Certificate
Bachelor's Degree from CSUS Sacramento
I have been teaching music to kids and adults for over 20 years, and it's the world's best job.
A credentialed teacher, I primarily teach piano, guitars, drums, ukulele, banjo, bass, saxophone, and flute. Besides teaching music, I also spent many years as an elementary classroom teacher, and like to spend as much time as possible with my wife and six kids.
I believe that learning an instrument isn’t magic! Anyone can jump in and learn what they want. You CAN do at least some of it and you can’t mess it up. The music is here and it wants to be your friend.
Music is just a foreign language, so it can be as serious or as leisurely as you want. You can dedicate your life to the language or just learn a few words. The music is here to serve us, not the other way around. Most piano and guitar programs are insanely inaccessible, but my mission is to fix that with a specialized approach for every learning style. Jump in and explore. I’ll help show you around!
Let's explore. Let's learn. Let's rock!
