Week 1: Introduction and Fun with Keys - Introduction to the piano and its basic parts. - Learn the layout of the keyboard, focusing on the white keys. - Basic hand positioning and finger numbers through fun exercises. - Play simple songs with one hand. **Week 2: Note Recognition and Rhythm Fun** - Introduction to musical notes, starting with the treble clef. - Basic note reading using simple songs. - Introduction to basic rhythms (whole, half, and quarter notes). - Play simple rhythmic patterns with both hands. **Week 3: Basic Melodies and Hand Coordination** - Begin playing simple melodies using one hand. - Develop hand coordination through clapping and playing exercises. - Introduction to the bass clef and playing with both hands. - Play a duet with the instructor to practice ensemble skills. **Week 4: Musical Games and Ear Training** - Fun music games to reinforce note recognition and rhythm. - Introduction to dynamics (loud and soft) and tempo (fast and slow). - Playing familiar tunes by ear and by reading music. - Introduce the concept of musical expression. **Week 5: Music Theory Basics and Creativity** - Introduction to key signatures, sharps, and flats. - Learn about simple time signatures and counting rhythms. - Encourage creativity by composing simple melodies. - Play songs with dynamics, adding expression. **Week 6: Building Finger Dexterity and Scales** - Finger exercises and games to improve finger dexterity. - Introduction to major and minor scales. - Play familiar tunes in different keys. - Begin working on a longer, recognizable song. **Week 7: Exploring Music Styles and Technique Development** - Introduction to different music styles (classical, pop, etc.). - Play songs in various styles to develop versatility. - Practice technique development exercises. - Focus on improving hand coordination. **Week 8: Course Recap and Next Steps** - Recap key concepts and skills learned throughout the course. - Discuss the progress made and areas for improvement. - Set goals for future piano playing and continued learning. - Provide certificates of participation for each student.
