Hello! I am so excited to meet you all! My name is Jennie and I am a Primary school teacher with 13 years of experience and currently studying to become a specialist dyslexia teacher! In this ongoing class, we will learn the fundamentals of reading and writing through the use of phonics and whole-word strategies. The focus of the lesson will be the sound of the week, and we will use this sound to play games, read and spell! We will also use it to look at sentence structure! We will also do a 'quick sound recap' (which is fantastic exposure even if your child has not covered the sound yet, repetition and exposure to the sounds is all part of the process.) Phonics: Reading and writing tuition will include: - a sound recap of previously learned sounds and exposure to new sounds - Ice breaker: What is the sound this week? - blending: putting sounds together to help read/decode new unknown words - segmenting: splitting words up into their sounds to help us write new/unknown words - sentence structure: learning correct punctuation related to age expectations/ability Sound sessions: W/b: 30/11/22 - 'or' Additional dates and sounds to be added Each lesson will use a multisensory approach perfect for supporting a range of learners! I use visuals to support learning and activities, such as dancing, guessing the word games, and sound buttons. Your child will learn best when they are engaged and motivated, using their interests is an amazing way to capture their attention. I am a bubbly and accommodating teacher and I will work with you and your child to support the progression of their literacy skills! I am looking forward to meeting you! If you do not see a time that suits you, please let me know so that we can arrange one. Jennie
