Class Experience

Students will learn to recognize and write the letters Aa-Zz, while gaining a strong understanding of the most common sounds letters make, in this fun and engaging 5 week flexible schedule class.

Each week students will enter the classroom at their convenience to watch a quick unlisted YouTube video of Teacher Catie talking about the letter and animal of the day, teaching the days zoo-phonics signal and sound, and doing a kinesthetic review of letters previously learned.
Students will be encouraged to participate in a virtual Outschool classroom show and tell: upload a photo or video to the weekly Show and Tell thread of an item found at home that begins or ends with the sounds learned that week.

Optional extension activities:
-Letter of the day challenge activity
-Letter/animal of the day coloring page
-Handwriting worksheet
-Uppercase/lowercase sorting worksheet.
-Handwriting without a pencil: Teacher Catie will provide ideas and recipes for sensory writing activities (ex: cloud writing, salt tray)

Students are encouraged to share pictures of themselves doing the extension activities or their completed work with Teacher Catie and the other learners in the Outschool classroom.
