Learn Literature Through Minecraft
Each week in this reading club, we'll go off on adventures to far off places without a passport! We will discuss a different short story each week as we re-create portions of the story in Minecraft.

Description
Class Experience
I have a bachelor's degree in writing and journalism. I worked as a journalist for over five years and won several awards during my career. A large portion of my college years was spent studying creative and essay writing. I play Minecraft with my own children on a regular basis. I have also completed multiple professional development classes on anti-bias education including "Indigenous People's History," "Teaching Hard History," and "A Framework for Teaching American Slavery."
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Students will need to have Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition (PC, Xbox, PS4, iPad, etc...they also need to have a Microsoft account). This class is NOT compatible with Java. They will also need to be able to interact in Zoom and play Minecraft at the same time. Some of the stories may contain violence (death, murder, but not graphic), mild language, and some scary themes (ghosts). Some of the stories include negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people that are harmful or wrong. We will critically analyze the problematic content of discrimination and prejudice.
