Class Experience

Learn Italian with a native speaker! Level 1 Italian: 30 minute classes. Ages 8-10

This course is similar to my other course catered to students aged 5-8. If your child is 8, but prefers classes with older learners, this class might be preferable.

In this multi-day course, we will learn basic vocabulary and sentences in Italian. I will guide students through the classes with an interactive approach to learning. First, a little bit of background about me: I am a native Italian speaker from Florence, Italy with a degree in Communication Science from the University of Pisa. I have over four years of teaching experience in ESL and in Italian as a second language. I am extremely passionate about teaching and very lively in class. I want my students to have fun while learning.

What will students learn in this course? In class, we will apply vocabulary and sentences to games and interactive activities. Outside of class, students will receive the materials to practice at home. The students will have two classes a week. The first class will introduce the theme of the week and the main vocabulary. In the second class of the week we will add some extra vocabulary and review the previous lesson. I will focus class time on learning, applying what we learned and practicing independently. Having two shorter classes is the best way to keep the ideas fresh and have constant exposure to the language. Class sizes will be smaller to support the students and help them with pronunciation. Below is a breakdown of the topics covered in class.

WEEK 1: All about me!

Lesson 1: Introduction sentences
- Students will be able to repeat "Hello!" "What's your name?" "My name is ___" "How are you?" "I'm __ (good) (bad)"

**** Materials provided:
Students will receive worksheets and materials to practice. Students will also receive a video of me pronouncing the vocabulary and sentences so they can have extra practice at home. Class time is meant to introduce the vocabulary/senteces and start practicing. To really get the most out of this course, I recommend doing the optional after-class activities.

*** Important notes:
- Class times are approximate and may end a few minutes late if we are finishing an activity.
- These classes build on each other, so if a student misses a lesson they will have access to the recorded lesson and if they need extra practice or some help with the material please send me a message.
Learning Goals
