Class Experience

This course is designed for beginners who would like to learn how to type on a keyboard. We will learn about different techniques that will improve our typing skills, common errors that people make when typing, and also creating our own sentences and conversations. Here is a breakdown of the course:

Week 1

We work on getting to know the keyboard, where to properly place our fingers, and practice some exercises that will get the student comfortable with the keyboard.

The student will practice typing their first words and sentences with the teacher providing feedback on what they can improve on.

Week 2

Review skills of home row and top row. Practice typing words and sentences. The student will get to ask the teacher any questions or concerns they're having as they have been practicing throughout the week.

The teacher will introduce the student to typing words using the top and bottom row. These exercises will be more challenging but will allow for the student to work on their accuracy when typing. It's important to first be accurate and later work on getting faster.

The student will type different conversations and also the students get to create their own conversations. The teacher will type back and forth with the learner so that they can respond and type in real time. This will make it more challenging for the student since they will have to follow along with the teacher's subject and questions.

Week 3

This week we will also begin typing paragraphs. Creating your own paragraphs will require more patience. However, the teacher will provide assistance, feedback, and guidance for the student to be able to complete these paragraphs.

Final exam: the student will carry out various typing exercises that are each worth points. These exercises will allow for the student to notice how much progress they've made throughout the month. As they see the points they accumulate in this final exam, they will feel excited to want to continue making even more progress.
