Description
Class Experience
Students will learn how to tie-dye clothing using the dip method. Multiple techniques will be taught so students will have their choice of what technique to try. I will be demonstrating live how to get great results and fun patterns on clothing. Students can choose any garment of clothing to dye. This class will be fun and interactive. Questions and comments are encouraged while the tie-dye process is happening. Because this experience can be messy, access to an outdoor space is recommended...
A white garment of clothing (shirt is recommended) At least 2 colors of Rit dye (can be found and purchased online or in a craft store) 3 or more rubber bands A pot for every color dye Disposable gloves (optional) to prevent dye on skin Outdoor space available for the craft is recommended but not required
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Boiling water is required for success in tie-dye, as well as dipping into warm water. Permanent dye is being used.
