In this 4 week, 4 level private training course, children will be introduced to the basic fundamentals of singing. Focusing on breath, warming up the vocal chords, practicing scales and finally, singing songs. Upon completion of the course, each learner will be presented with a beautiful "certificate of completion" to acknowledge their achievement. This is an excellent course to help kick start a child's lifelong vocal journey, and nurture their love of singing! Relaxation and breath. Vocal warm ups, focusing on range and vowel articulation. Practice solfege scale, with hand signs. (using the fixed :do" system) Ear training games, for development of pitch. Rhythm exercises based on the Kodaly method. Song. week 2: Relaxation and breath. Vocal warm ups, focusing on range and vowel articulation. Practice solfege scale, with added intervals. Ear training games, for development of pitch. Rhythm exercises based on the Kodaly method. Song. week 3: Warm-ups, Practice solfege scale, Ear training games, for development of pitch. Rhythm exercises based on the Kodaly method. Song. week 4: Relaxation and breath. Vocal warm ups. Practice solfege scale, with hand signs. Song study and practice. (using guitar accompaniment) No previous experience required. Heidi Crocini holds a diploma in Early Childhood Education from Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario . Since 1999, she has been running music based programs rooted in Zoltan Kodaly's method for teaching music to children from 0 to age 12. She has facilitated programs at the Halton Waldorf School in Burlington, Ontario, the Westdale Children's Waldorf School in Hamilton Ontario, and the Victoria West Community Center in Victoria, BC. Born and raised in a musical environment. Her father, a jazz musician and multi instrumentalist, taught music while Heidi was growing up. She recalls bringing the students coffee or tea when her dad taught lessons at around age 8. For over 20 years, Heidi has trained mainly under the Bel Canto vocal style, with coaches such as Donna Ried, (Cornelius Ried's wife, famous and brilliant vocal coach in New York) Mary Allouette, Vocal Coach//Artist/Producer, and Sue Connolly, of Claim Your Voice studio, in Heidi's current hometown of Hamilton Ontario. Heidi is a singer/songwriter. She has produced 2 full length CD's of her original music, and is currently working on a 3rd electronic album. She plays acoustic guitar, and loves to write songs! Heidi teaches the basic fundamentals of voice and song writing to students, offering them tools and guidance in support of their musical journeys.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to sing in tune. Develop excellent pitch, vowel articulation and rhythm. They will also gain an understanding of song writing and structure.
