For homework, students will need to spend between 1 and 2 hours per week developing a final artwork, using the instructions/discussion from the week. Learner progress will be evaluated through the progress photos of their work and class correspondence with the teacher/classmates about progression during the creation process throughout the week. The teacher will provide individual feedback and guidance as each student works through their weekly projects. Students provide encouragements and constructive feedback/analysis to their classmates throughout the course.Class Experience
Throughout the sessions, students will learn how to use Photoshop by creating several different projects. They will progressively learn the different tools within the program and multiple uses and techniques for the tools (including filters, transparency, and layers). Learning will occur though teacher demonstration and group discussion. Students are expected to develop and complete their projects prior to the next session. Common tasks photo editors complete include but are not limited to: cropping, color adjustment, blemish removal, distraction removal, people/object removal, hair clean-up, face swaps, head swaps, body contouring, background adjustments, glasses glare removal. Below are the most frequently used tools that the student will understand, have confidence using, and master: Layers - stack images on top of other images without interacting and mixing the pixels of images Move Tools - move part of a layered image to a new location Spot Healing Tool/Patch tool - remove blemishes from a photo, repair larger areas of an image, or get rid of any distractions Clone Stamp Tool - clone or copy image information from one area to another Color Enhancements/Adjustments - adjust the brightness and contrast of your images Cropping Tool and Content Aware - for cropping an image, removing background objects in an image Quick Selection Tool - makes a selection based on the edges of objects Patch Tool - patch selected content Marquee and Lasso Tools - make selections around anything on a layer Projects include, but are not limited too: Week 1: Intro (Picture frames & Filters) Week 2: Pop Art Portraiture Week 3: Magazine Cover Design Week 4: "Images that Lie" Triptych Week 5: Mythological Creatures Week 6: Portraits For homework, students will need to spend between 1 and 2 hours per week developing a final artwork, using the instructions/discussion from the week.
