Learn How to Model 3D Objects – a Beginner’s Guide to Mastering Tinkercad
Completed by 10 learners
Ages 9-14
Live One-Time Class
In this One-Time Fun & Engaging Class, the students will learn mastering tools to build 3D models in Tinkercad. 3D design fosters dimensional consciousness and this course is designed to spark engineering creativity in the learner’s mind.
Hello and welcome to our beginner's guide to Tinkercad.
"Tinkercad is a free, easy-to-use web app that equips the next generation of designers and engineers with the foundational skills for innovation: 3D design, electronics, and coding!"
In this one-time exciting, fun, and engaging class, students will learn and master the skills of using Tinkercad. The student will get a quick tour of the User Interface and familiarize themselves with the navigation panel and tools available in Tinkercad.com. They will also learn how to work with shapes, surfaces, scaling objects and changing colors. We will engage in brainstorming and planning during the learning process. Finally, we will work together on a 3D Design project and customize it based on the concepts learned.
Students will receive constructive and positive feedback and socialize with other like-minded students.
Breakdown of Class:
----------------------
0 – 5 minutes – Introduction + Icebreaker question
10-15 minutes – Tinkercad Demonstration & Tour
10 minutes – Tinkering + Asking questions
10 minutes – Work on a 3D design project together + Customization
10 minutes – Wrap-Up + Follow-Up Questions
My goal is for your child to have fun and learn valuable skills (CAD technology is essential for many future careers).
The key takeaway of this lesson is to broaden and strengthen the natural engineering skills that all kids are born with.
This is an excellent course for students who want to learn 3D designing and modeling.
After completing this course, you will be able to create designs and work on them in Tinkercad. Tips on how to 3D print your object will be provided as well.
I look forward to teaching your learner these highly valuable creative life skills!
Requirements for this learning course:
--------------------------------------
The student needs to have basic computer skills and fast internet. Students are encouraged to have two devices. One for Tinkercad and another for Zoom (This is a recommendation but not necessary). Splitting the screen may be difficult for the student to follow. We also require students to use a computer or PC laptop. A Tinkercad account will need to be created by the parent before the class starts and students will need to be logged in prior to the start of class.
Please have your parent or guardian approve your Tinkecad account before getting started. If you are under 13, you will need to get your parent's approval first, which may require a verification process.
Tinkercad's process for child accounts takes a few days to approve so please make their account at tinkercad.com before the day of class.
Recommendations after the course:
-----------------------------------
Tinkercad is compatible with many 3D printers. Although printing the project is outside the scope of this class, students are encouraged to find a 3D printer and print their project.
Also, check my specific 3D design and modeling project in Tinkercad. They will help to advance the design skills in each learner tremendously.
Thank you.
Learning Goals
Learners will become familiar with the engineering design process and gain confidence using TinkerCAD and sharing their work with others. Students will be able to manipulate 3D shapes to create any models such as simple house, engineering tool or other simple designs in TinkerCad.

Parental Guidance
Learners will need an individual Tinkercad account from TinkerCad.com. It would be beneficial for learners to have a notebook to document their work, so this can be referred later on when designing any future project.
TinkerCAD is COPPA Compliant resource see this article for more information:

If a temporary account is needed while waiting for a parent-approved account for kids under 13, please let me know early. These temporary accounts will be deleted without notice frequently to ensure student safety and to comply with Outschool standards.
Parents should be active in Outschool messaging and available for conferences as needed to reach goals for the project.

I have a mechanical engineering degree and worked with companies in CAD modeling applications and 3D Designs. I have trained students in 3D modeling & design, and also supervised summer camps. Not only that, I have tutored over 10,000 students in core math and science subjects for the last 5-6 years. I love to work with students. My simple step-by-step blueprint system has helped thousands of students and I hope it will help you as well in your learning journey. Remember, learning takes you to the next level.
