50 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
During our class, students will learn basic hand sewing techniques and sew their very own felt kitty family. I will model each step of the process and make sure every student is successful along the way. Most learners are able to complete the "mommy cat" during class and then have the skills and resources to make the "baby cat" on their own! Your child will be able to modify the project to fit their current sewing ability. For example: If this is their very first sewing project, they can choose to glue and paint on the additional facial features. If your child has prior experience, they can learn how to embroider those details. This class is highly interactive! Throughout the class, students will able to chat with one another, ask questions, and share their progress. After you sign up, I will send you the pattern we will be using in class. In order to make the most of our class time, please ensure all PAPER pattern pieces have been cut out BEFORE class begins. We will be tracing these onto felt and cutting the felt pieces out together during class. Please make sure your child is able to thread a needle, with the assistance of a needle threader or adult, if necessary.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Oregon Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Since my first teaching job in 2009, I have had the privilege to teach in urban, private and international schools... as a classroom teacher, reading interventionist and literacy coach... grades K-8... in America and Hong Kong, China.
Watching my students catch the "spark" when they discover a passion for something new is the greatest part of being a teacher. Because of this, I teach a wide variety of classes and topics, sharing my love of learning with my students in the hopes that they, too, will find the joy in learning and exploration!
