Class experience
Students will learn a brief history of origami and its origins. Rozine will walk students step by step folding a cute hawaiian-styled, collared-shirt. In a relaxed and calm atmosphere, Rozine will guide students to use care and precision with their paper art. Shirts can be folded with traditional origami paper, or sturdier scrapbook paper. Glueing magnets to the back creates an interesting visual display. The dimensions for this project allow this shirt to be folded from paper money...
Rozine has been folding origami shirts as part of her tips to service workers for over a dozen years. Her love of hands on crafts blossomed to include other origami items that are not only fun to look at—they function as useful tools, too!
Students will need • decorative scrapbook paper and/or origami paper • either a paper cutter, or a cutting mat with an Xacto blade & straight edge (used only for cutting) • a hot glue gun, elmer's glue, or Aleene's Craft glue (any paper glue will work) • a burnishing tool (this can be an actual burnishing tool, or any hard plastic with an edge, like a credit card, ID, putty knife or other scraper • paper money bills are optional • basic small magnets, also optional • have scissors on hand for accessories like tie or pocket squares
Scissors or paper cutters may be necessary for this course.
