This engaging 2 week-long course will focus on introducing students to business product/service development and marketing! Marketing is the side of business that thrives off of CREATIVITY! Most small businesses, unfortunately, do fail. We will discuss why small businesses fail and what we can do to avoid and prevent that from happening. We will discuss the importance of marketing with regards to business success. Sadly many businesses fail due to poor or limited marketing efforts. Students will gain valuable knowledge about product/service development and successful marketing. Course topics will include, but are not limited to: - Market analysis - is there a need or demand? - The 4 P's of marketing - product, price, place, and promotion. - Consumer behavior - why we buy, what we buy? - Marketing ethics - ethical challenges in business will be discussed. A project will be assigned during the first class that will be worked on and developed throughout the course. This project will involve developing a business product or service idea and creating a mini marketing plan for that idea. Students will share their plans to the class on the last day of class. Students can expect PowerPoint guided discussions, including imagery, video clips, the sharing of real-life stories, and LOTS of discussion. No prior learning experience required for this course.
