Students will analyze the Op Art movement and explore the concept of optical illusions. Op Art is a modern art movement originating in the 1960's that focused on the formal elements of line, color, form. Many Op art works appear to be moving, swelling, or warping. Op Art is created strictly through different types of lines using patterns and repetition. In this class, students will be introduced to the style of Op Art, be shown examples and learn how to draw an optical illusion using the elements learned in class. By the end of the class, students will get to show off their artwork and will be encouraged to color and upload their art for classmates to see their final design.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to identify Optical Illusions, understand the science behind OpArt and learn how to manipulate space and shapes to create an illusion of depth.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Nikki and I am a teacher of many things! I am passionate about art, video games, animation, technology and leadership. I have a college degree in animation.. how COOL is that!?
My classroom is very relaxed and even though all of my lessons have structure, everyone is free to make creative choices and customize their projects any way they like. My teaching style is very patient, very kind and I like to make students laugh, smile and have fun learning.
When I'm not teaching, I play video games with my family. I have two kids - ages 15 and 6 and a cat. But my cat doesn't play video games.. he doesn't have thumbs! :) Our favorite games to play are:
-- Minecraft
-- Roblox
-- Mario
-- Among Us
Just to name a few ;)
This is me! Hope to see you in the classroom soon!
