Class Experience
In this course, students will learn how to create a 3D survival game. In the video recordings, I will show how to create parts of the game and students will be able watch the videos at their own pace and follow along. Students should have experience using unity or have completed my other course "Learn How To Code Your First 3D Game Using Unity & C# (Beginner)" before taking this class: https://outschool.com/classes/learn-how-to-code-your-first-3d-game-using-unity-and-c-7RjBRvVR#uso4MwEBW5 Please reach out to me if you are interested in taking this class but haven't taken my beginner unity class yet. Class 1: In this lesson I will show students how to setup our Unity project with gray box templating and also create the code for the camera to orbit left and right around the player using the mouse for 3rd person perspective. Class 2: We will finish the camera orbit system to include up and down rotations. We will also start coding the player movements where we learn about global and local positioning system in Unity. Class 3: In this lesson students learn how to add an enemy object to the game and also how to use the unity Artificial Intelligence system to make the enemy follow the player with minimal code. We will also start adding the ability for the enemy to attack the player. Class 4: We finish the attack sequence code and start adding the visuals. We will also learn how to download assets from the unity asset store and add them to our game by adding a new scene. Class 5: In this lesson students will learn how to download and add models from an external website. Students will also start to learn how to download and add 3D animations to our game. Class 6: We finish the 3D animation controller to display different animations in this class and we also add the code to display the different animations automatically when the player is moving. Class 7: In this lesson students will learn how to add the enemy model and animations in the game and also how to create the enemy animations controller. We also add the ability to play the enemy animation with code. Class 8: In this last lesson we will wrap up our game by adding the ability for the player to attack which will be different then the enemy attacking the player since the player can attack multiple enemies at the same time. Topics the course covers: Importing Animations Playing Animations Setting up an Animator Locking mouse to game Create a Camera Orbit Script Enemy AI follow player with obstacles (Navmesh, Navmesh Agent) Passing and Returning from C# Methods Importing assets from Unity Asset Store Creating Scenes and prefabs Post-Processing effects Access components with code Please note: Chromebooks, tablets and iPads will not work for this class. Teacher expertise and credentials
I have a degree in computer science and have been coding for over 11 years. I have also worked a few years in the industry creating desktop games. As someone who was originally self taught I know how important it is to learn code by being very hands-on and experimenting, which is how I will be teaching.
