Flat nose pliers (flat inside jaws, wide tip of nose) Helpful but not required: 10. Masking tape (recommended for students with less jewelry making experience) 11. Beading mat (to keep work from sliding around as we create) 12. Metal files (for smoothing out rough wire edges) Material Costs & Where to Buy: • Jewelry Pliers + Cutter: ~$10 • Jewelry wire (18, 20, 24, and/or 26 gauge wire): ~$7/spool (Note: "g", or "gauge", refers to the thickness of the wire: the higher the number, the thinner the wire.) • Gemstone/Cabochon: approximately $15-20 for gemstone packs, or $3-10 for individual cabochons off Etsy. • Beading Mat: ~$5 • Metal files: ~$3-5 • Materials are available online or at your local craft store such as Michaels or JoAnn Fabrics. You can check your stores for coupons, such as saving a fixed percentage off your entire order. Feel free to ask any questions ahead of time regarding materials!
1 hour 25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parental assistance may be needed to help students with cutting wire, and helping students make successful bends in wire if needed.
